Working with Creative Mentors
When Qona mentioned this opportunity to me, I was very excited by the idea. I had to work extremely hard at getting my first Art degree. At this time, I did not realise the learning difficulties I had. When I enrolled at the Royal College of Art, I was re-tested and found be very dyslexic. I feel through my experiences, I can help others like me to be better understood by the people around them, and to understand themselves better. There are many talented people out there who would struggle to even get through their G.C.S.E. exams. Children get misguided and their learning difficulties are misunderstood. The worst thing is how it affects their self-esteem and self worth. It would be a very rewarding experience for me to make a difference to some child’s learning experience and help them achieve their true potential. Also I would like to be able to communicate a different perspective on life to these children to help them to deal with the type of struggle I face everyday to comprehend the world in which we all have to function.
