🍁🍃🍂 At the beginning of this year we started working with a new primary school @cdps_southwark and we’re really impressed with the work that the students have produced so far with our mentor Frances! 👏

Years 3 to 6 students have been working on a print project inspired by leaves of the four seasons. They produced linear line drawings and cut outs of leaves, then transferred these into print using mono printing and styrofoam. We can’t wait to see the finished results! 🤩

Students @habaartdept have been experimenting with the camera-less photography technique cyanotype with one of our mentors. They used natural forms and jewellery materials to create the images under a UV light. So far they’ve used paper and wood but have ideas to do lots of other surfaces so watch this space 👀🐚🥚

‘Langwij’ is always revolving, with Stuart McCaffer

Year 8 students bent different-coloured wire to spell words they found hard-to-spell (because those words weren’t phonetic — or, should we say, ‘fonetic’), and then placed them together on a mobile. The mobile mixed-up the words even more, to help other people experience reading challenges similar to what the students feel. Our mentor, Stuart, emphasised how English has always been changing and evolving, and hence titled the exercise ‘Langwij is always revolving’.

St Marylebone CE School and Haberdashers’ Aske’s Borough Academy V&A museum Art Deco project.

Inspired by the geometric forms of the Art Deco movement, year 7 to year 9 groups explored geometric shapes within their immediate surroundings and through drawing and collage, captured the lines and curves of objects in and out of the classroom.
